I shot this in a little town called Teotitlán del Valle, near Oaxaca, Mexico.
I love Oaxaca. The food is awesome – I remember eating an incredible squash blossom soup in a little cafe in Teotitlán. Everything is colorful, from the clothes to the walls to the art and things made by hand by very skilled artisans. This particular village is full of incredibly beautiful tapestry makers. Karen and I bought a really nice area rug there, in fact, that we still love.
They have some wonderfully vibrant adobe walls, and I love shooting shadows and silhouettes against them. I presume this is an image of a mother and daughter giggling together. It has a joyous feel to me, and a little joy is never a bad thing.
