Sometimes when I look out the window of my office and see big, dramatic clouds forming, I just have to grab a camera and rush outside.
The hard part is quickly finding something to put in front of the clouds.
Fortunately where I live in Deep Ellum, we have the Traveling Man – a huge, incredibly photogenic stainless steel sculpture. I will often dash to the Traveling Man to take a few quick pics in the fading light. On this occasion, the clouds wrapped around him just right.
Canon 1DX. 27mm. ISO 200. Polarized. .5 seconds @ f/11. Two remote flashes aimed at the steel legs and arms to help light them up a bit.
