I like purple thistle. Birds, insects, and all kinds of butterflies love it.Finches love to tear away at the seed head. It all adds up to a great photo subject, here backlit against the setting sun. And if anyone out there has actual read my past blatherings on photography, they know that Sean do love him some backlight.
Apparently there are two kinds of thistle, one native Texas thistle and one non-native. I have no idea how to tell them apart. Anyone?
