One of my favorite summer things is sunflowers, especially a huge field of them. Standing in a sunflower field with thousands of colorful, round faces swaying in the wind, looking at you with a mute intensity is one of life’s simple pleasures. And it is fun to photograph them, too. One time in central South Dakota I found a field with a lone sunflower towering above the others, i.e. one “big mother.” . . .
