Nice Press for Contest Win
November 18, 2010
I have gotten some nice press for the City of Dallas Trinity River Photo Contest win, including a Dallas Morning News article on me and what I did to get the image and a post in the Dallas Observer. There is a nice video of the judges discussing all the entries, too.

I did pretty well in the City of Dallas' Trinity River Photo Contest. I won the overall Grand Prize with a shot of coyotes howling in the snow during the February snowstorm, plus the following winners in the professional division:
Pro Division:
1st Place Wildlife - Beaver
1st Place Forest/Prairie - Ladybug
2nd Place Forest/Prairie - Ibis in tree
1st Place Architecture/Structures - Trinity River Audubon Center
1st Place River/Ponds - Flying Great Egret
3rd Place in River/Ponds for the crayfish
You can see all the winning photos here. They don't have their contest website updated as of today, but will soon.

This site has served me well, but is getting a little too hard to update, so I am working on a new one. Stay tuned for that, plus upcoming news on worldwide photo workshops.

June Mattingly's web site on the Dallas modern art scene, Regular Main'-trinity-river-project-and-tr-audubon-center/, has been following my Wild Trinity project, and she has just posted another installment. It is a great blog, and I am thrilled to be featured!

My project to document the wildness of our own Trinity River forests and wetlands is rolling pretty good. Stay tuned for news on the Trinity River Photo Contest, plus a new website to better feature the project. And yes, I have reserved www.wildtrinity.com. I am putting together a project packet now to outline what I have in mind and start my search for corporate, government, and nonprofit sponsorships. Wish me luck.

I am returning as the featured Photography Speaker (or something like that) at the Aransas Whooping Crane Festival on the Texas coast, February 27-27. We'll be doing a pre-festival workshop on LaCopita Ranch outside Corpus Christi, then various seminars and fieldtrips during the event. I am trying to get together an additional whooping crane boat tour for photographers, too. I'll let you know if that happens. More info here
