After sleeping in the back of my Xterra, I woke up to a bit of a poor morning. I drove around looking for images and near the Sonny Bono Wildlife Refuge, came across a beautiful scene of shorebirds and gulls standing in shallow water. I shot 8 overlapping images and pieced them together into one single image. When printed, it will come out to 90″ by 10″, and I can print it much bigger, as well. I spent the rest of the morning searching for good subjects and finally came across an old GM recreational vehicle parked out in the middle of an open field in Salton City. I had great fun photographing the decaying bus and then later a fire hydrant out in the desert. Soon thereafter, the skies clouded up and rains came. I managed to take a few images from a small abandoned marina of playground equipment and an old “Lots for Sale” sign.
As the rains fall, I check the weather reports and decide I might as well head back home. I just have too much to do, and too little time to do it. I am kind of sad, especially since there is so much out here I still want to photograph. . . . Next time.
