As we get deeper into Turkey Week, here’s a gobbler from The Fennessey Ranch near Corpus Christi, Texas, who has worked himself into a frenzy in search of love (and because I was gobbling back to him, signifying he had some nearby competition for the ladies).
I love photographing at or below eye level. It creates a nice, intimate connection with the subject, and with a long lens really blurs out everything but the subject. In this case, I am shooting from a blind I dug into the ground so that my camera is at ground level and the grass and background are nicely blurred.
Canon 1N RS. Fuji Velvia. Canon 500mm lens. Velvia used to be the cat’s meow, now it just looks funny and the shadow detail is awful, compared to today’s digital files.
