As we prepare to celebrate the death of the old year and the birth of a new one, here’s a pic from Costa Rica of a little snake that can easily take care of that death part.

It’s a palm pit viper, patiently hanging from a tree in a Costa Rican cloud forest at night.  The viper is coiled up on a branch just above the ground, waiting patiently for an oblivious mouse to take the ultimate wrong turn.   Everything is food for something.
