If you go to Bosque del Apache and just shoot the birds, you won’t tell the whole story, since the throngs of photographers and birders there to observe the spectacle are a big part of that scene.

In the dim, pre-dawn light, I shot this boardwalk full of birders and photographers while snow geese passed overhead.

The hard part was getting my camera high enough to keep the silhouettes of all the people within the lighter outline of the blue water. I held the camera up as high as I could over my head, but I could not quite get the tall cowboy hat on the far right below shore level.

Oh well. Good enough.
