High Island, just north of Galveston, has an Audubon sanctuary with a rookery filled in the spring with egrets, spoonbills, cormorants and more, all building nests and having babies. And boy, can they be fussy about their nests.
You can try to track birds with autofocus as they fly in, but sometimes the best thing is to just watch their behavior, notice which perch they are coming to, prefocus on that spot, and click away when they come. That is what I did here with this great egret pair building their nest.
I will be leading a tour to High Island as part of this years Featherfest in Galveston, April 10-13,
