One of the nature photo “rules” is to never your subject headed away from you. But I am not much on “rules”, and happy to break them when I think it works.
Here, the story for me is the soft s-curve of the Rough green snake as it slowly works its way through the canopy, looking for things to eat, like insects and frogs. I like that snake-eyed view of the world.
Rough green snake, Great Trinity Forest, Dallas, Texas, USA. Canon 1DX. 70-200 + 2x teleconverter + extension tube. ISO 1600. 1/50 sec. @ f.5.6. I did not have a macro lens with me, so I pushed my 70-200 as far as it could go with the 2x teleconverter and a 25mm extension tube.
