One of the little pleasures where I live in Dallas is the mid-summer arrival of wood storks, roseate spoonbills and ibis in the remote ponds of the Great Trinity Forest. They are beautiful birds, yet so few Dallasites have any clue they are in there. I understand they have just started to arrive, though I have not been out yet to see them.
Wood storks like this often gather together in the fading afternoon before heading to big cottonwood trees to roost for the night.
