Stars over the Sahara

At the end of our camel ride into the Saharan Desert dunes at Erg Chebbi, we stopped at a Berber camp to spend the night.  And not just any camp, but one with bathrooms, full beds, a huge dinner and live Gnaoua musicians. No complaint here! It was really fun.

I stayed up late into the night and walked up and down the surrounding dunes taking long exposure photos of the night sky and dunes above the Berber camp and of the Milky Way and dunes setting on the orange light of the distant town of Merzouga. When I got back to the tent, I noticed the soft oranges lighting up the curtained entrance and thought that might make the best shot of all.
