On the edge of the flooded Trinity River I found a bright red crawfish on a road leading to a nearby boat ramp into the river. The crawfish was in an inch of moving water, and doing its best to stay out of the swifter current just a few yards away.
As I approached, it raised its claws and held its ground, not knowing whether I was a photographer or a cajun chef. Alas, I was the former, so he lives to see another day. And I got this photo.
Canon 1Dx. 200mm. ISO 800. f/16@ 1/100 second. EV +⅔.
Don’t shoot!
