I am getting ready to hit the road for my Autumn Elk and Aspens Workshop at Vermejo Park Ranch in New Mexico and a welcome escape from this Texas heat. I love that place.

This will be my first fall workshop there, and I can’t wait to hear the elk bugling across the meadows, watch them spar and court the ladies, see the autumn aspens and cottonwoods glow with fall color. I will try to post some pics during the next week during what little free time I have.

In the meantime, here are a couple of elk pics to paint some of the scene. The velvet should be gone and the bucks’ testosterone should be overwhelming all of their senses and normally good judgment. Reminds me of high school.
